MYBA charter agreement
The MYBA charter agreement is the standard contract for crewed yacht charters, published by MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association. It sets out the charter fee, the APA, the cruising area, cancellation terms and the duties of owner, charterer, broker and captain.
Why is a standard contract used?
Owners, brokers and charterers in different countries can work from terms they already know, which shortens negotiation and reduces disputes. Most Mediterranean crewed charters are signed on MYBA terms.
What should be kept on file?
The signed agreement, the payment schedule, the guest list and the APA accounts, held together for each charter.
