Refit
A refit is a planned period of major work on a yacht, beyond routine maintenance, such as repainting, replacing teak decks, overhauling engines or renewing interiors. It is usually done in a shipyard out of season, against quotes and a budget.
How is a refit different from maintenance?
Maintenance keeps the yacht as it is. A refit changes or renews it. Refits are projects: they have a scope, quotes from yards and contractors, a budget, a start and an end.
What goes wrong?
Quotes expire, scope grows and costs drift when the work is tracked in email. Keeping each refit as a record with its quotes, status and spend makes it visible next to the rest of the vessel’s work.
